January 7th, 2010Author: adminOk so i hav mcafee on windows xp os mcafee sends me a alert that says trojan detected. It is a vundo trojan and it is found in c:\windows\system32\jayamuja. dll how can i get rid of this? Mcafee says that i cant quarentine it or it failed to quarentine and i cant remove it
your gonna have to reformat.
there are guides out on how to remove it on norton’s website, but vundo has so many variants that for the most part the guides have never worked.
I have never succesfully rid a computer of this virus WITHOUT a fresh install of windows
edit: avg and malwareanti bytes is useless against this beast. it says it’s gone, but it’s not. believe me, the only way to completely remove it is to do a fresh install of xp. even in safe mode, kill box could not kill this bad boy.
vundo is a torjan.

this software can remove it:http://trojan-horses-killer.com
Download AVG Free version from cnet.com. AVG is a great antivirus program that has an auto update feature so you can tell it to update at any specific time you tell it to. I have it and it’s a great program. After you download it, make sure all the updates are installed, then do a virus scan. If it turns up, then AVG will ask you to remove it or quarantine it! Try that and see if it gets rid of it. Hope this helps.
This sounds familiar… try downloading Malwarebytes, it got rid of all those pesky irremovable viruses and its free, but the full version is better of course.Use this, my anti virus didn’t get a lot of things and this cleared it all up no problem.
